Description: A rangoli is a colorful pattern made on the floor near the entrance to a house to welcome guest. At Diwali, people draw bright patterns.
There are many great patterns you can find on the web. For small kids, teachers or parents can draw the pattern first then let kids to fill in the colors. Bigger kids can try to design their own rangoli pattern (easier on a grid paper) first.
Traditionally rangoli patterns are drawn with the fingers using flour, rice powder or colored chalk. For kids project, use colored chalks on black construction paper or fine sand paper.
It is a great art project. You can also give prizes for the best rangoli made at the end. Have fun!
